How does Mi Robot Vacuum work?

Turning on/off

Press and holdto turn Mi Robot Vacuum on. When the ring LED indicator lights up, it’s ready to work. Press and holdwhen the vacuum isn’t cleaning to turn it off and finish the ongoing cleanup

Note: Mi Robot Vacuum can’t be turned off when it’s docked.

Cleaning

Pressto start cleaning. Press any button during the cleanup to pause

Note:

Mi Robot Vacuum may fail to start the cleanup if it doesn’t have enough charge

If the battery runs low during a cleanup, Mi Robot Vacuum will dock itself automatically and resume the cleanup from where it left off after the battery is charged

Remember to remove all cables (including Mi Robot Vacuum’s power cord) from the floor before a cleanup to prevent trapping or damaging valuable objects

If a cleanup lasts shorter than 10 minutes, Mi Robot Vacuum will complete 2 rounds by default

Route

After Mi Robot Vacuum is turned on, it analyzes the room, generates the map, and splits it into smaller cleaning areas. In every area, the vacuum cleans the perimeter first, and then follows a zigzag route inside the perimeter. Cleaning smaller areas one by one and the zigzag route allow Mi Robot Vacuum to clean the whole room efficiently without missing any spots. When the cleanup is finished, the vacuum will dock itself automatically and start charging

Charging

Automatic: Mi Robot Vacuum will go back to the dock automatically after cleanups and starts charging

Manual: Presswhen the vacuum is paused to send it to the dock

Ring LED indicator will blink when the vacuum is charging

Note: If the vacuum can’t find the dock and goes back to the starting point, pick the vacuum up and dock it yourself

Spot cleanups

When the vacuum is in the standby mode or paused, press & holdto start a spot cleanup. This mode is used to clean the area of 1.5×1.5 meters around the vacuum. The vacuum will go back to the starting point and turn off after it’s done cleaning.

Note: Starting a spot cleanup while the vacuum is paused will end the current cleanup

Pause

When the vacuum is working, press any button to pause. Pressto resume the cleanup. Pressto end the cleanup and dock the vacuum

Note: Docking Mi Robot Vacuum when it’s paused will end the current cleanup

Errors

Whenever an error occurs, the ring LED indicator will turn red and start flashing. Read “Fixing errors” to learn how to solve the problems you might encounter.

Note:

If the problem isn’t solved for 10 minutes, Mi Robot Vacuum will go into the sleep mode automatically

Docking Mi Robot Vacuum when it’s paused will end the current cleanup

Sleep mode

If Mi Robot Vacuum isn’t working for 10 minutes, it will go into the sleep mode automatically. Ring LED indicator will blink once every few seconds when the vacuum is in the sleep mode

Press any button to wake Mi Robot Vacuum when it’s in the sleep mode

Note:

Mi Robot Vacuum can’t go into the sleep mode when it’s docked

The vacuum turns off automatically if it’s in the sleep mode longer than 12 hours

Dock

Place the dock on a level surface against a wall. Make sure that any objects are at least 0.5 meters away from the sides of the vacuum, and at least 1 meter away from the front. Connect the dock to the power outlet. Make sure the Wi-Fi signal is strong in the area where you place the dock

Note: Keep the dock away from direct sunlight and don’t cover it with other objects. Otherwise, Mi Robot Vacuum might not be able to dock itself
